Carmel King has documented many of Britain's leading craftsmen and women, heritage brands and manufacturers at the forefront of UK industry.

Made in London featuring behind the scenes images of fifty workshops and factories, which she co-authored with

Professor Mark Brearley is out now, published by Merrell.

Inspired by her own family's three-generation textile firm, Carmel began working on her ongoing series Makers and Manufacturers, a decade ago.

She has travelled around the British Isles telling the stories of people working in foundries, tanneries, workshops, factories and studios. From handwoven textiles to jeans, bells, pottery, glass eyes, bicycles and scissors, her images show her passion for craft and capturing the everyday details of factory life. She documents the skill of her subjects as well as the spaces they work in, telling the whole story behind the products they produce.

Carmel's images have been published internationally and she regularly shoots for national newspapers, magazines and publishers. Carmel shoots commercial campaigns  for a number of British brands, working with them throughout the year on original, creative content.
